our work
Sustainable Agriculture Transformation
UPLAO focuses on transitioning traditional slash-and-burn practices towards sustainable agricultural methods. This includes promoting agroforestry models, organic farming, and providing training and resources for diversified crop cultivation. (Doorklik naar project)
Community Empowerment & Livelihood Diversification:
UPLAO empowers upland communities by diversifying livelihood options beyond mono-crop cultivation. Initiatives involve supporting alternative income sources like beekeeping, promoting handicrafts, and facilitating access to education and skill development programs.
Reforestation & Biodiversity Conservation
The foundation actively engages in reforestation efforts, collaborating with local communities to restore cleared areas. UPLAO emphasizes preserving indigenous flora, integrating reforestation with agroforestry, and creating protected zones to conserve biodiversity.
Community-based ecotourism
The foundation embraces community-based ecotourism initiatives, fostering sustainable travel experiences that showcase the region’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. By collaborating closely with local communities, UPLAO promotes responsible tourism practices, empowering communities and preserving ecological integrity.
